Keweenaw Nordic Festival
The TalviTohinat Skijor Race is proud to be part of the first annual Keweenaw Nordic Festival, to be held January 16 & 17, 2010. In addition to the skijor events, the festival features the Copper Loppet, the Copper Island Classic, and the Paradise Pursuit.
Saturday's Copper Loppet includes Junior Olympic Qualifyier (JOQ) races for high school and first-year collegiate Nordic racers , a half marathon (26 k) and a 13 k race (freestyle); races to be held at the Michigan Tech Trails. Sunday will include a JOQ and 5 and 10 k classic races; races to be held at the Chassell trails. Times will be combined from the Copper Loppet and Copper Island Pursuit to determine the overall winner of the Paradise Pursuit.
In addition to the ski and skijor races, festivities are planned for Saturday night - stay tuned for details.
